A visa can be described as an endorsement document that allows the holder to enter, stay and leave a certain country for a given period of time. There different types of Visas required to enter Congo and various requirements are needed that can be see below.
Types of Visas
Tourists Visa
The tourists Visa can be issued at any accredited Congolese consulate, this visa is valid for a period of three months allowing multiple entries for non US citizens and for US citizens travelling to Congo for tourism will be given a Visa valid for 6 months and multiple entries shall be granted.
Official/Diplomatic Visa
Diplomatic/official visa bearers will be granted diplomatic passport bearers, United Nations laissez-passer bearers and official passport bearers and this always include employees from the ministry of foreign affairs in Canada and Mexico, U.S state department, the World Bank, United Nations, International monitory term, diplomats from other embassies accredited to the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.
Business Visa
Business visa can be guaranteed to travellers making arrangements for investments in Congo, establishing professional business contacts and making feasibility studies. A business visa is only valid for 30 days and allows multiple entries for non US citizens; if the applicant is planning to stay for more than 30 days then he should extend their visa at the nearest Immigration office. Us citizens travelling to Congo for business purposes will be granted a business visa valid for 180 days and shall be granted multiple entries.
Congo visa requirements
Invitation letter/hotel reservation
An invitation letter must also be presented indicating; the name and address of reference to be visited in Congo, nature of the trip and should be addressed to the Embassy of Congo. The letter must be valid for 3 months and visitors travelling with children or guardians must show proof of parenthood.
Visa fees
Visa fee for Congo is only $200 and the only form of payment is cash and money orders, the money order should be paid to the order of “Embassy of the Republic of Congo”. Also note that the Congolese embassy to the US doesn’t allow postal checks for Canadian and Mexican under any circumstances. All visa fees are non refundable once application form has been submitted.
Airline tickets
A copy of your airline ticket with dates of arrival and departure will be required.
Business letter (Business visa)
A business letter will be required of all travellers with business visas and the letter should indicate; the name and address of a reference to be contacted in Congo, nature of business to be performed and the business letter must be addressed to the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Please note that no business visa will be granted without a business letter valid for three months.
When applying for a visa in Congo, all visitors are required to submit their application forms two weeks before arriving in the country. Travellers must also have fully completed visa application form.
Valid passport
You must have a passport valid at least for the next 6 months.
