This 3 Days Mount Bisoke & Karisimbi Hike tour will take you to some of the magnificent volcanoes in Virunga region, located in Northern Rwanda – Bisoke and Karisimbi where you will hike up to the top of each mountain on different days.
Both summits enable trekkers to view beautiful lush vegetation, and sceneries to die for. The Rwanda tour holiday is suitable for visitors who have limited time in Rwanda but they love hiking.
The mountain slopes also offer chances to spot a number of wildlife including olive baboons, Ruwenzori monkeys, Vervet monkeys and abundant bird life.
Detailed Mount Bisoke & Karisimbi Climbing Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Depending on your arrival at Kigali airport, you will be welcomed by your tour guide/driver and set off to Volcanoes National Park – home to the remaining mountain gorillas in the world. You will have your dinner and overnight to prepare for the next day’s trek. This marks the end of day 1 of your 3 Days Mount Bisoke & Karisimbi Hiking safari.
Day 2: Mount Bisoke hike
After your breakfast, you will connect directly to the park headquarters for a briefing about the activity as early as 7am. You will then be assigned the park ranger guides and you head for the hike.
The hike on the slopes of Bisoke mountain is quite strenuous and challenging so you need to be physically fit to do this hike, but the slopes and peaks reward with very beautiful and rewarding magnificent views of the forest and Crater lake at the top.
The ascent takes about 3-4 hours and more 2 hours to descend back reaching the base by around 4pm. Connect for your late picnic lunch and proceed to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Hike to Mount Karisimbi
After breakfast, carry your packed lunch and drive to the park headquarters for a briefing about the activity as early as 7:00 am, you will then be allocated the ranger guides and off you begin the hike. Standing at 4507 meters above sea level, Karisimbi volcano is the highest of all 8 mountains of Virunga conservation region.
The hike to the summit offers spectacular and wonderful views of different volcanoes including Nyamuragira and Nyiragongo volcanoes in Congo. The hike takes 6 hours but is rewarded with great views of beautiful bird species and rare primates.
On reaching at an altitude of about 3700m, you will take photos, have picnic lunch and descend to meet your driver guide to transfer you to Kigali city, marking the end of your 3 Days Bisoke and Karisimbi volcanoes hike.
