This 21 Days Long Uganda Safaris Adventure will offer you a chance to encounter the wildlife and culture of Uganda through the tremendous national parks such as Kibale, Bwindi, Queen Elizabeth, Lake Mburo, Murchison Falls among others. You will encounter different animals such as the big five, giraffes, and antelopes among others. Encounter the Batooro, Banyankole, Batwa, Bakiga, Sebinyi cultures also trek the rhinos in Ziwa rhino sanctuary as well as a visit to the Source of River Nile in Jinja. This Uganda safaris tour will start and end in Entebbe airport.
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe airport and transfer to a hotel in Kampala
Upon your arrival at the airport on this first day of your 21 Days Long Uganda Safaris Adventure, you will be met and greeted by our company representative who will welcome and brief you about the 21 days Uganda safari and later transfer you to your hotel. The guide will communicate to you the time he will be picking you up the next day. Enjoy your well deserving dinner and overnight stay at a hotel.
Day 2: Kampala city tour
Start this day of your 21 Days Long Uganda Safaris Adventure with a city tour of Kampala after a morning breakfast, take a visit to the Kasubi Tombs – a burial place for the Baganda Kings, national museum, Baha’i temple, market places, the Kabaka’s lake, then head to the Namugongo shrines where the Uganda Martyrs were burnt into ashes under the orders of King Mwanga for failure to renounce their religion in 18th Century.
Then have evening narration as you learn about the real history of what happened in Buganda, and many other places if times allows, after the activity you will be driven back to the hotel for dinner and accommodation.
Day 3: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park and Stop over at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
After breakfast on this third day of your 21 Days Long Uganda Safaris Adventure, you will be driven to Murchison Falls National Park in the north-eastern part of Uganda the largest and most beautiful national park in the country. You will pass via Luweero triangle and Nakasongola where the 1986 NRA liberation war took place.
Get a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track the Rhinos, it is a home to over 20 white and black rhinos. After lunch, continue with the journey to the park via thunderous Karuma falls, elephants, primates like olive baboons, Vervet monkeys among others, proceed to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight at the lodge.
Day 4: Game drive and Launch cruise in Murchison falls NP
After a cup of tea/coffee on this day of your 21 Days Long Uganda Safaris Adventure, you will be transferred to the northern part of the park to meet the early risen rushing out from their hideouts. Games expected to be seen include predators and nocturnal animals like leopards, lions, hartebeests, Hyenas, and mammals like elephants, giraffes, lions, many species of birds.
After this wonderful activity, return back to the lodge for a hot lunch, then in the afternoon you will head for a boat cruise to the bottom of the falls to watch out for other species of animals like Hippos, Crocodiles, Elephants and buffaloes which can be seen along the shoreline and also many species of birds that live and feed on the lake inhabitants like king fishers.
Day 5: Transfer to Hoima town
Have breakfast and go for cultural experience in Hoima. Visit sites like the Bunyoro Kingdom headquarters, Mparo Tombs situated 4km out of Hoima along Masindi road. This place was chosen as the capital of Omukama (king) Kabalega of Bunyoro in 1872. After here, visit the Katasiha Fort along Butiaba road, have lunch at Africa village guest farm, and later proceed to your lodge.
Day 6: Transfer to Fort portal town and tour the Amabere Ganyinamwiru caves
Take your breakfast before transferring to fort portal. While on the way, enjoy the beautiful landscapes of green tea and banana plantations. Reach in Fort portal and visit Amabere caves and Nyakasura falls where the chwezi dynasty history will be elaborated. Retreat and return to your booked accommodation for dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 7: Visit the Toro Kingdom and Fort portal city tour
Early morning breakfast and then after, visit the Toro Kingdom palace, with Uganda’s youngest king called Oyo Nyimba Rukidi the 4th. He was barely four years old when he took the throne in 1995. Visit the Karambi Tombs, a burial ground for the kings of Toro, then entertainment by the Batoro cultural dancers if interested you can join them in their dances.
Day 8: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi swamp walk
After breakfast, transfer to Kibale Forest National Park; Kanyanchu visitors centre for briefing before you set off to the forest to begin the search of our closest relatives the chimpanzees. Chimpanzee trekking time is unpredictable however it can go from 2-6 hours since meeting them depends on where they spent their last night.
However, a reasonable degree of fitness is needed as well as appropriate tracking gears like sturdy pair of shoes. Once you meet gorillas, you are strictly allowed to spend only one hour with them. In the process of searching for man’s close cousins, other species of primates can be seen like the Colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, and grey cheeked Mangabeys, baboons, civet monkey, among many others. In the afternoon go for Bigodi swamp nature walk – a great hub for bird species, primates, smaller mammals, butterflies and vibrant rich cultures.
Day 9: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park and boat cruise
After breakfast on this ninth day of your 21 Days Long Uganda Safaris Adventure, you will be driven to Queen Elizabeth National Park – home for wide biodiversity of wildlife. The park is known for tee climbing lions and it is located in western Uganda amidst savannah region.
The drive will take about 4 hours with a scenic drive up to the park and you will arrive in the afternoon for lunch, after you will embark on a two hours’ launch cruise along Kazinga channel which connects lakes, Edward and George. The launch cruise provides an opportunity to spot various species of wildlife that live and feed on the lake including large numbers of hippos, crocodiles while buffaloes and elephants can be spotted along the shorelines and many species of birds; if lucky you can even spot the rare shoebill stork.
Day 10: Game drive and Visit Katwe Salt Lake
After breakfast on this 10th day of your 21 Days Long Uganda Safaris Adventure, you will be driven to Kasenyi area of the park to catch-up with different species of animals that live in the park. Animals you can expect to see include elephants, lions, Leopards, buffaloes, waterbucks, warthogs, Uganda Kobs, among others. After drive back to the lodge for full breakfast and lunch. After lunch, you will visit Katwe Salt Lake and get to know how salt is extracted locally from this beautiful lake.
Day 11: Community visit and Transfer to Bwindi National Park
Wake up and get ready for your breakfast and then after go for another activity and visit the different local communities around Queen Elizabeth national Park. You will enjoy many things ranging from Village walks with the panoramic view of the park’s verdant game and lakes, environmentally friendly ways of living.
Have your lunch on the hill surrounded by the bushes as you take in the views of Queen Elizabeth National Park and the crater lakes, have chances to learn the local activities like, farming. After you will come back to the lodge and later embark on a transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park a home to endangered rare mountain gorillas passing through Ishasha sector of the park the famous part known for its tree climbing lions, arrive at the park in the evening.
Day 12: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi
Set off to the park headquarters at 7:30am for short briefing about the dos and don’ts while with mountain gorillas and get allocated to the appropriate group for your Uganda gorilla trekking experience. Follow the park ranger guide deep into the lush tropical forest to begin possibly the most done activity in Bwindi national park.
Trekking the gorillas in the impenetrable forest is a breath taking experience no one would love to miss. The walks might be quite tiresome therefore, average level of physical fitness may be needed. An encounter with a family of gorillas is typically rewarding, spend an hour with them and be back at the base in time for late lunch. However, some gorilla families are more elusive and tracking can take a full day especially when it’s wet and muddy. Return back to the lodge for afternoon relaxation and an overnight.
Day 13: Community Visits and transfer to Mgahinga National Park
After breakfast at the lodge on this thirteenth day of your 21 Days Long Uganda Safaris Adventure, go for a community walk and meet the local Batwa people who live near the park. These will entertain you through their cultural songs, dances and if interested join them through their music and dance. Listen to their history and how they were evicted from the forest they had inhabited for over 500 years. After, you will embark on a transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park – another famous home of mountain gorillas and golden monkeys.
Day 14: Golden monkey trekking and Batwa community
Head to the park headquarters for briefing after your breakfast, where you will be given informed about the rules while trekking the golden monkeys. Enter the park with the help of the park guide, you will also encounter other primates such as the Ruwenzori monkeys, Colubus monkeys, olive baboons among others.
This adventure takes between 2-6 hours including 1 hour given to interact with these beautiful creatures as you take photos. Return to lodge for lunch and in the evening, visit the Batwa community to experience their culture through music, dance and drama and also their traditional food.
Day 15: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park and a stopover in Mbarara Town
After breakfast at the lodge, you will be driven to Lake Mburo National Park with scenic views all through. Have lunch in Mbarara at Igongo cultural centre and visit western Uganda’s biggest museum to experience the rich culture in this part of the country. Proceed afterwards to Lake Mburo National Park arriving in the afternoon, ready to go for an evening cultural encounter or just relax at the lodge.
Day 16: Game drive and launch cruise
After an early morning breakfast on this day of your 21 Days Long Uganda Safaris Adventure, enjoy your half day game drive at the park, games expected to be seen include Zebras, Antelopes, buffaloes, giraffes, impalas, jackals, Elands, bushbucks, common duikers, the rare klipspringer among many others. Return to the lodge for a hot lunch and go for 2pm boat cruise along Lake Mburo for more chances to see other species of animals like hippos, crocodiles and birds that dwell and feed on the lake’s inhabitants.
Day 17: Transfer to Jinja town and stopover at the Uganda equator
After a hearty breakfast on this seventeenth day of your 21 Days Long Uganda Safaris Adventure, you will be transferred to eastern side of Uganda to Jinja – East Africa’s adventure capital. You will have a stopover at the Uganda equator in Kayabwe for stretching, experiment and photographs.
Proceed the journey through Kampala, Mabira forest, a beautiful scenic drive passing by coffee, Tea and Sugarcane plantations and the colourful roadside fruit/vegetable markets. The second stopover will be at Mabira Forest Reserve for a forest walk. During this walk your guide will help you spot some of the Reserve’s primates, birds and butterflies. Reach the Source of River Nile – the place where the worlds’ longest river begins its majestic journey towards Mediterranean Sea. Check in the lodge for Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 18: Transfer to Mt Elgon National Park
After breakfast on this 18th day of your 21 Days Long Uganda Safaris Adventure, you will transfer to Mt Elgon national park famous for having the largest caldera lake in the world. The park harbours a number of animals such as elephants, olive baboons and also different bird species but it’s very rare to spot these animals. Upon your arrival, you will have lunch and take a nature walk around the park.
Day 19: Hiking Mount Elgon
On this day of your 21 Days Long Uganda Safaris Adventure, you will wake up early and take your breakfast and after you will head to the park office for check in. Start the hiking experience which will take 6 hours, and this will give you a chance to view a number of animal species, bird species and tree plant species.
Have a picnic lunch on top of the mountain as you view the caldera lake. This activity is quite demanding and one may need to be physically feet, and later descend for your dinner and overnight at the booked accommodation in Sipi area.
Day 20: Hike to Sipi falls and cultural encounter
Have early breakfast, and prepare to hike to the Sipi Falls which is a stunner and arguably the most beautiful waterfalls in Uganda. The falls are about 55km north of Mbale, in the foothills of Mt Elgon and not far from the town of Kapchorwa.
The hike to Sipi falls offers you spectacular views of Mount Elgon and the wide plains of eastern and northern Uganda disappearing into the horizon. The hike is facilitated with excellent walks on a network of well-maintained local trails in every direction. After lunch, encounter the Sabiny community troupe to entertain you through music and drama.
Day 21: Transfer to Kampala/Entebbe
Depending on the time of your departure flight, take breakfast at leisure, and later transfer to Entebbe to embark on your departure flight, to mark the end of your 21 days safari in Uganda.
