3 Days Mgahinga Gorilla Safari – Mgahinga national park is one of the paramount homes of the endangered mountain gorillas in Uganda. It’s located in south western Uganda and it’s the only park with both the mountain gorillas and golden monkeys.

Detailed Mgahinga Gorilla Trekking Itinerary
Day 1: Travel to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
On this first day of your 3 Days Mgahinga Gorilla Safari, our driver guide is to pick you from either the airport on arrival, or from the hotel where you will have spent the previous night.
Be briefed about the whole trip movements as you start on the nine hour long journey to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. First have a brief stopover at the Uganda equator in Kayabwe for pictures and in Mbarara town for lunch.
From here, proceed directly to Mgahinga, the journey gives you stunning views of the Virunga ranges, the Kigezi highlands as well as the beautiful countryside of South western Uganda. Arrival will be in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Batwa cultural trail
Early morning, of course after breakfast, head to the park headquarters to be briefed by the park guide about the dos and don’ts while trekking the gorillas.
Now commence with the gorilla trekking experience. Walk through the thick jungle in the slippery trails paving your way through the thick lush with a hand stick or human arm in search of these gentle apes, simply a lifetime experience.
On encountering the beautiful gentle giants of the forest, spend the one magical hour with them, taking as many photos as you can provided the cam doesn’t have a flash, watch them play from one tree branch to another and see the great silverback watching over his family.
Later in the afternoon after lunch, join the Batwa community for a cultural experience. See how the ancient forest people, also known as the first inhabitants of the forest used to hunt with a bow and arrow, learn how to make fire and cook locally.
A taste of the local cuisines is a guarantee except to the one who doesn’t wish. Then return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Return to Kampala and Departure
Wake up to an early breakfast at the balcony of your room as you have the last views of the Virunga mountains.
Check out from the lodge and embark on a 9-hour return drive through Kabale, Mbarara, the equator and finally Kampala or drive direct to Entebbe airport to catch your evening departure flight.
