3 Days Best Queen Elizabeth Safari for Elephants & Lions

This 3 Days Best Queen Elizabeth Safari for Elephants & Lions is one of the shortest wildlife safaris in Uganda. It particularly goes to Queen Elizabeth National Park; the most popular and premier national park in the country.

Over 70 mammal species call it home, from the big to the small game, and about 610 bird species are residents, more than any other national park in Uganda.

In Queen Elizabeth National Park, everything is available for you to see. You will have a game drive that will present sights of buffaloes, lions, Topis, elephants, Uganda Kobs, hyenas, chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura gorge and community encounter to mix and mingle with locals on the shores of Lake George, plus a leisurely boat ride along the Hippo-filled Kazinga channel.

See detailed plan for this Uganda travel package below.

Detailed Queen Elizabeth Safari for Elephants & Lions Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala/Entebbe to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Setting off will be in the morning for Queen Elizabeth National Park on this first day of your 3 Days Queen Elizabeth Wildlife Safari. The first stopover will be at the Uganda Equator in Kayabwe.

Participate in a live geographical experiment to see how water swirls into different directions in the opposite hemispheres and prove that indeed you are standing in the middle of the world.

From here proceed to Mbarara for lunch at Igongo country hotel, also home to western/south western Uganda’s biggest museum. From here, drive to Queen Elizabeth national park, check in at your lodge, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning game drive and Boat ride at Kazinga channel

Undertake pre-breakfast game drive in the park to spot early risers and the beautiful landscape marked with curved hills and dotted with picturesque crater lakes curled in ancient valleys that have inhabited this region for millions of years.

The savanna landscape of the park shelters more than 70 mammal species like the elephants, buffaloes, Oribis, warthogs, lions, bushbucks, waterbucks, Uganda Kobs and many others which travelers can’t miss to spot during a game drive here.

Dedicated the afternoon to a leisurely launch cruise from Mweya jetty along Kazinga channel between Lake Edward and Lake George.

Kazinga channel is one of the longest water ways in Africa and its shores are populated by huge schools of hippos (Africa’s largest), African elephants that come over to quench their thirst and cool off from the scorching sun, other wildlife looking for water as well as various bird species.

Queen Elizabeth national park is one of the Important Birding Areas in Uganda which hosts both migratory and resident birds.

Day 3: Return to Kampala. Departure

This is the third and last day of your 3 Days Queen Elizabeth Wildlife Safari. After a delicious breakfast at the lodge, check out and begin the transfer back to Kampala.

Take a route of your choice, either via Mbarara or through Fort Portal to have another beautiful experience en-route. View the jagged ranges of Mount Rwenzori, tea plantations, Uganda’s cleanest town, Fort Portal, Nakayima tree in Mubende.

Proceed on the drive until you reach Kampala, either check in at the hotel of your choice or drive to the airport for your exit flight.
