Detailed Kibale Forest Chimpanzee Trekking Itinerary
Day 1: Kampala/Entebbe to Kibale Forest National Park
Early morning on this first day of your 3 Days Uganda Chimpanzee Trekking Safari in Kibale, the driver guide picks you from the hotel where you would have spent the night.
The journey to Kibale forest national park is about five to six hours marked with beautiful sights of the green lush along the highway.
Drive through Kampala – Mityana – Fort portal route via vast tea plantations offering amazing panoramic views.
Driving will be at your pace, having stopovers at places of interest like the historical Nakayima tree in Mubende for pictures and so much more.
Arrival will be in the evening to check in at your pre-booked lodge, have dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi wetland tour
After an early breakfast head to the park headquarters for a simple briefing about the rules and regulations of chimp trekking in Kibale national park by the park ranger.
Enter into the profuse jungle to hunt down the chimps and have a moment with our next cousins in the forest. While searching for chimpanzees, you’ll encounter several other primates which include the blue and red tailed monkeys, colobus monkeys and sometimes forest elephants.
On meeting these beautiful chimps spend an hour watching them carry on their daily lives, feed and play from one tree branch to the other. In the afternoon after lunch you will have a swamp walk in the Bigodi wetland.
This gets you closer to even the smallest insights of nature. Spot various bird species, primates and tree species. It is simply a beautiful walk for an evening.
Day 3: Return to Kampala / Entebbe and Departure
Breakfast as you view the conical hills of Fort portal and the vast, smoky Kibale Forest from the lodge.
Depending on your departure time, you can choose to have an early community tour to the Isunga community, to the crater lake area or hike to “top of the world”- an area where you get a bird eye’s view of the entire Fort portal crater lake region and its vast tea plantations.
Proceed on the drive to Kampala or Entebbe and that will mark the end of your 3 Days Uganda Chimpanzee Trekking Tour in Kibale.
