4 Days Mountain Gorilla Trek & Lake Bunyonyi Boat Safari

This 4 Days Mountain Gorilla Trek & Lake Bunyonyi Boat Safari is a great introduction to south western Uganda’s best tourism destinations- one for adventure and the other for R&R (Rewind and Relax).

Both are best compliments to each other. After a worthwhile gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi’s dense forests, what else can make your tour complete other than spending an entire day either canoeing to the interior of Lake Bunyonyi, or just relaxing at a pool deck or balcony of your resort enjoying the cool breeze from Africa’s deepest lake. The feeling is magical!

Detailed Bwindi Gorilla Trekking & Lake Bunyonyi Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala city to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Meet and greet with the guide after breakfast at the Hotel in Kampala or Entebbe on this day of your 4 Days Gorilla Trek & Lake Bunyonyi Safari.

Thereafter start the 7-8 hours’ journey to the southwestern part of Uganda via Masaka and Mbarara towns with two stopovers – one at the Equator to take photographs and buy souvenirs and another in Mbarara for lunch.

Later proceed as you drive through the rolling hills with banana plantations, the attractive terraced Kigezi highlands.

Basically the journey will be great when observing the various landscapes in Ankole and Kigezi sub-regions. On arriving at your lodge in Bwindi Forest National Park, check in, enjoy dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla tracking and cultural encounters in Bwindi

After early breakfast on this second day of your 4 Days Gorilla Trek & Lake Bunyonyi Safari, depart the lodge with packed lunch / snacks and report to the park headquarters for briefing at 7:30am.

This involves the rules and guidelines for gorilla trekking in Uganda as outlined by park head ranger. Thereafter proceed to the starting point to begin for search for mighty mountain gorillas.

The guides and trackers who have experience and knowledgeable park ranger will take you to observe these gentle giants.

The gorilla trekking hours depend chiefly on the location of gorillas in their natural habitat, though mainly can take between 2 to 8 hours and after return back to trail head to have lunch and meet your driver guide.

Proceed to the lodge, rest and later in the evening take a community walk to engage and observe how Batwa people live around this area. Dinner and Overnight stay at the lodge.

Upon reaching, engage in a sunset canoe trip on the lake whereby you can observe various birds, communities, land-forms such as the islands which are round 29 islands distributed across the lake.

Take as much photographs as you can. After the canoe, return to the lodge to relax and later in the evening go for community and nature walk through the Batwa, resident Bakiga and Abaheesi communities.
