Detailed Uganda Chimpanzees & Wildlife Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park & Bigodi Swamp Walk
On this first day of your 4 Days Uganda Chimps & Wildlife Safari, you will be transferred from Kampala or Entebbe at 7.00 am to Kibale Forest National Park.
You will get at the lodge in time for lunch and after lunch; you will go for a guided nature walk in Bigodi wetland sanctuary. The community runs this activity and it takes you through beautiful natural environment.
The sanctuary is home to counts of butterflies, small animals like squirrels, monkeys, and great bird life, the great blue Turaco being the favorite. Trek to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Morning Chimpanzee tracking & Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park
You will be transferred to the park headquarters for briefing about the day’s long awaited activity, the chimpanzee trekking in Uganda.
A Ugandan safari is not complete without tracking the chimpanzees that are the close to humankind in relation to DNA sharing up to 98.7%.
The best place to go chimpanzee tracking in the Africa is Kibale National park, which is host to about 13 primate species and other interesting mammals like the forest giant hogs, elephants, cats and duikers.
Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger guides will lead you into the forest. You will spend only one hour with the chimpanzees, learning about their habits and behaviors.
Return from chimpanzee tracking tour, relax at the hotel and have lunch. In the afternoon, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Fort portal town and the panoramic views of Rwenzori Mountains. Check in at the lodge and relax getting ready for the next day’s activities.
Day 3: Morning game drive and Boat trip on Kazinga channel
Wake up early on this third day of your 4 Days Uganda Chimps & Wildlife Safari, have quick breakfast and head for the sunrise game drive to look out for the animals in Queen Elizabeth National Park has to offer.
Look out for the giant African elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, Uganda Kobs, warthogs, waterbucks and so much more. You will return to the lodge after about 3.5 hours of the game drive.
Have lunch and then get ready for the boat safari on the Kazinga channel; a 45km water way that connects Lake Edward and Lake George.
During the boat safari, you will spot countless hippos, buffaloes, crocodiles, elephants and different bird species that include the malachite and pied king fisher’s, African fish eagle, spoon bill, yellow billed stork, pink backed pelicans and so on.
The boat safari on the Kazinga channel is one of the highlights for many people on a Uganda safari
Other than boat cruise and game drive, there are also other experiential tourism activities currently available in Queen Elizabeth National Park that include lion tracking, Mongoose tracking, Hippo Census, and Bird Counts.
Each lasts between one and three hours and normally takes place early morning and in the evening and sometimes at night.
Day 4: Transfer back to Kampala / Entebbe
After a delicious breakfast on this last day of your 4 Days Uganda Chimps & Wildlife Safari, you will be transferred back to Kampala or Entebbe with en route lunch in Mbarara.
You will continue the journey with a stopover at the Equator for photo session and souvenir shopping.
