Detailed Murchison Falls Wildlife & Kibale Chimpanzee Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and travel to Murchison Falls National Park
On the first day of your 5 Days Murchison Falls Wildlife & Kibale Chimpanzee Safari, you will be welcomed by our company representative together with the driver / guide upon arrival at Entebbe airport, and transfer to Murchison Falls National Park.
You may have an optional stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking and proceed to Murchison falls with lunch en-route in Masindi Town.
Enter the park via Kichumbanyobo entrance gate and proceed to top of the falls, and view how the Nile River forces its way through a narrow opening to create one of the strongest waterfalls in the world.
Transfer to the lodge for dinner and overnight or an optional night game drive.
Day 2: Game Drive and Boat Cruise on Victoria Nile
Start this second day of your 5 Days Murchison Falls Wildlife & Kibale Chimpanzee Safari with a delicious early breakfast and off you go for the sunrise game drive hoping to catch sight of some members of the big 4, resident in this park!
You may see other animals including numerous species of antelopes, giraffes, jackals and other cats. Return to the lodge to unwind and have lunch.
In the afternoon, you will go for a launch / boat cruise on the Nile River that takes you upstream to the bottom of the water falls.
The cruise avails endless chances to get close to giant Nile crocodiles, Hippos and a number of birds.
After this encounter, go back to the lodge for dinner and night stay or have gather around a campfire for storytelling and traditional performances.
Note: On this day, you can as well opt for a balloon ride in the morning before the game drive or in the evening after the boat trip!
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
Wake up to an early breakfast and embark on your long journey to Kibale Forest National Park, through scenic places, plantations, and the rugged escarpments of the great Albertine rift valley.
It is good to have lunch en-route in Fort Portal town and if time allows, visit the Amabere Ga’nyinamwiru stalagmites and stalactites caves, waterfalls, and the surrounding crater lakes.
Proceed back to Kibale forest for dinner and accommodation.
Day 4: Kibale forest – Chimpanzee Trekking
After breakfast on the fourth day of this 5 Days Murchison Falls & Kibale Safari, report to the park headquarters for briefing and proceed for Uganda chimpanzee tracking from Kanyanchu ranger station.
Chimpanzee trekking relatively takes half a day or even one hour. Other than chimps, there are a number of other primates in the area like the L’Hoest monkey, baboons, white and black colobus monkeys, grey checked mangabey, red colobus, blue monkeys and pottos.
Vast population of mammals include forest elephants unique from the common type, giant forest hogs and stunning flora. Return to the lodge, enjoy lunch and later take a guided nature walk to Bigodi swamp sanctuary, a good site for birders.
The Papyrus Gonolek and Great Blue Turaco can easily be marked among the other 137 species. There is also an array of butterfly species. Later return for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Back to Kampala
On the last day of your 5 Days Murchison Falls Wildlife & Kibale Chimpanzee Safari, enjoy breakfast and transfer back to Kampala with lunch en-route in Mubende or Mityana towns. Drop off at Entebbe airport for your flight back home.
