Day 1: From Kampala drive to Kibale Forest via Fort portal
In this morning of your 7 Days Uganda Primates Expedition, be picked from point of your convenience (hotel) by driver guide. Begin your 5 hours’ journey to Kibale Forest National Park via big towns of Mubende and Kyenjojo before entering Fort Portal town, a very green town covered by tea and banana plantations.
The attractive scenery overseeing the mountain of the moon (Rwenzori) is a good opportunity for a photo break at your convenience. Then go to the lodge for lunch, rest and later go for a Community/ Swamp walk to start on your Primate expedition. A favorable nature walks offering a lot; from the locals attending to their crops, primates such as black and white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkey, red colobus monkeys, and many bird species are present too.
Day 2: Chimpanzees Tracking and nature walk / crater lakes tour
Getting your early morning breakfast done, they will drive to Kanyachu visitor centre for briefing before heading into the forest by a Ranger guide from Uganda Wildlife Authority for your Uganda chimpanzee trekking experience which is the highlight of the safari. Meeting a troop of chimpanzees, you will be given an hour with them before returning to your hotel foe hot lunch, in anticipation of an optional crater walk in the afternoon.
Walking through the rain forest is amazing, other primates that can be seen are; Red tailed monkeys, Black and white Colobus monkeys, Grey checked Mangabey, though they keep a reasonable distance from the chimpanzee. This is one of the best days of your 7 Days Uganda Primates Expedition.
Day 3: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast on this day of your 7 Days Uganda Primates Expedition, depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park. Another drive on the foothills of Mountain Rwenzori seeing beautiful glaciers on a clear day, Banana plantations, Tomato plantations, Cotton, Tea, etc. Drive through Kasese Town, a very famous copper mining town during the colonial era. Go to the lodge for check in and have lunch. A sunset game drive for a chance of seeing Lions, Leopard, Uganda kob, Elephants, Buffaloes, and abundance of bird life. Return to the lodge for dinner.
Day 4: game drive in the morning and Kazinga channel boat trip
Having your breakfast packed, you set off for a morning game drive in Kasenyi open area for active game viewing. There are chances of seeing Lions in action. However, a sunrise in wilderness is wonderful; more animals are very active at this time like Hyenas walking back to their dens offering a great experience. Return to the lodge for lunch.
At exactly 2:00pm, be at Mweya jetty to prepare for another thrilling adventure along the Kazinga Channel. This boat ride is very important as it brings you close to the water birds, like pelicans, fish eagles, kingfishers, African spoonbill, African darters, reptiles like Nile crocodiles, and monitor lizards are often seen, in addition to plenty of Buffalos, Elephants and Hippos.
Day 5: Tracking tree climbing lions and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable forest
After morning breakfast on this fifth day of your 7 Days Uganda Primates Expedition, you drive to Ishasha the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park. This will take 2-hour drive, which is very adventurous as you get to see more wildlife while driving through the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National park.
There will be a well prepared game drive in Ishasha which will present you a chance of seeing the famous tree climbing lions, Topis, Hyenas, Leopards, Elephants, Buffaloes and a true wild landscape. Lunch will also be served here, and later proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park driving through hills and mountains of terraced land for local agriculture. On reaching, the lodge, have Dinner and rest awaiting Gorilla trekking the following day.
Day 6: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi
Today is the gorilla trekking day. It is one of the best days of your 7 days Uganda safari. After breakfast, assemble at the park offices where groups are allocated. A professional guide will be assigned and armed officers to protect you as you make the trek in the forest. With the help of radio communication, ranger guides and trackers are able to easily locate the allocated family.
Upon searching the gentle giants, spend a good quality hour with them as they feed, young ones playing about and take naps. After trekking trek and move out of the forest and then proceed to the lodge for dinner having completed the highlight of the Uganda 7-day safari.
Day 7: Transfer back to Kampala/Entebbe (departure)
In the morning, have breakfast before starting an 8-hour journey back to Kampala or Entebbe for your flight back. A wonderful historical drive through the rolling attractive hills of the Switzerland of Africa. Get your Lunch on the way and a must stop at the equator, for refreshments, stretching, and buying souvenirs in remembrance of Uganda. This marks the end of your 7 days safari in Uganda.
