Detailed Uganda Family Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and Transfer to Kibale National Park – a capital of primates
On arrival at the airport for your 7 Days Uganda Primates & Wildlife Safari, our expert guide will wait and give you a warm welcome. After that, the guide will give you a brief briefing about the whole trip.
Transfer to the primate world of Kibale Forest, home to over 13 primate species such as the chimpanzees, Columbus monkeys, baboons among others.
Have lunch in Fortportal before proceeding to Kibale forest national park, passing through the beautiful towns of Mubende, Mityana, and Kyenjojo while catching the magnificent views of the snow-capped mountain Rwenzori and crater lakes before checking in to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Have a good time and also taken some photos in the evening.
Day 2: Trek Chimpanzees and visit Bigodi wetland
After early breakfast on this second day of your 7 Days Uganda Primates & Wildlife Safari, you will go to the park’s headquarters to be briefed about chimpanzee trekking.
This will commence at 8:00am before heading to the jungle for an unforgettable experience. Uganda chimpanzee trekking exercise in Kibale’s 795km2 national park is very interesting, as you encounter several chimpanzees moving on with their daily activities in the jungle-covered with the sweet melodies of birds.
Other primates like monkeys, baboons, are also encountered during this walk.
Chimpanzees are the closest relatives to human beings, sharing up to 98% of their DNA with that of the human beings. Other forest dwellers you will see include; the Lhotse’s monkeys, grey checked Mangabeys, red and blue colobus monkeys and so many other bird species which include; green breasted pita, ramped tinker birds.
After a very delicious lunch, visit Bigodi swamps – a very excellent spot for bird watching as well as viewing the primates you could have missed during forest treks. This destination is also occupied by many locals who can equally make your experience a better one. Return to the lodge for dinner and night stay.
Day 3: Head to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Boat trip on Kazinga channel
After a very hefty breakfast on this third day of your 7 Days Uganda Primates & Wildlife Safari, embark on a 3/4-hour drive to Queen Elizabeth National park (a medley of wonders), passing via Fort portal with amazing scenic views and beauty of the Rwenzori ranges.
Queen Elizabeth national park is home to several wildlife and more than 600 bird species. The mammals include elephants, buffaloes, and lions among others.
On arrival, check-in at the lodge, relax and receive a very yummy meal prepared by expert chefs.
Afterwards, head to Kazinga Channel for a boat cruise and while here, you stand a chance of spotting aquatic animals such as the hippos, crocodiles right at the river banks.
In addition, your eyes might also direct you to see some of the thirsty animals that come to drink water or have a bath.
Day 4: Take a morning game drive and Cultural encounter
Wake up to an early morning breakfast on this fourth day of your 7 Days Uganda Primates & Wildlife Safari, then head to the park and engage in an early morning game drive.
This enables you to view the early morning risers along the Kasenyi track as they go hunting for their meal as well as the night hunters coming back to take shelters.
Here, you have chances to view many animals such as; lions, elephants, solitary buffaloes, Kobs, antelopes and more animals.
Head back to the lodge for a very energy-giving meal covered with unforgettable aroma.
In the afternoon, head to the shores of Lake George to meet the local communities around who have lived here for generations and these will make your tour very memorable with some performances such as dances, storytelling among others.

Day 5: Drive to Bwindi impenetrable national park
After breakfast on this fifth day of your 7 Days Uganda Primates & Wildlife Safari, drive towards south of the park through the wonderful glittering Savannah vegetation to Bwindi impenetrable national Park via Ishasha sector.
Ishasha is well known for its massive populations of tree climbing lions.
Though it might sound magical, Tree climbing Lions do exist but can only be viewed here and Lake Manyara National Park in Tanzania and are very magical to view as they rest on tree branches.
Proceed to Bwindi, a home to half of the world’s remaining endangered mountain gorillas, Uganda’s pride. Check in to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forest
Enjoy your early morning breakfast on this 6th day of your 7 Days Uganda Primates & Wildlife Safari, and after proceed to the park headquarters to have a briefing about the dos and don’ts of Uganda gorilla trekking in Bwindi.
At about 8:30 am, Uganda wildlife authority rangers will then accompany you to the rain-forest to start your search for the gentle giants.
With your hiking boots, a stick, cameras, binoculars, bottled water, this strenuous activity will be made very simple and successful since it is a life time experience, the trekking pursuit will start right at the point where the rangers last saw the primates while following the broken tree branches and tracks.
Upon finding them, you’ll be given an allowance of one hour to watch gorillas interact and as they go on with their daily activities.
When done, return to the lodge for your lunch and in the afternoon, visit the Batwa community to enjoy some cultural performances before retiring at your lodge
Day 7: Depart to Kampala / Entebbe International Airport
After a very delicious breakfast on this seventh day of your 7 Days Uganda Primates & Wildlife Safari, embark on your journey to Kampala, with a stopover at the equator for some photos and lunch at Igongo cultural center.
