Day 1: Depart Kampala to Lake Mburo National Park- Afternoon wildlife viewing

On this first day of your 8 Days Explore Uganda Safari, your safari driver guide will meet you in Kampala at 7:00 am and will drive west of the country to Lake Mburo National Park having a stopover at the drum makers’ center – Mpambire and later at the Equator for cappuccino and memorable photographs.

Upon reaching the park have picnic lunch or have it at the lodge, later set out for an afternoon game drive through the park where you will take a glance on different animals including the Burchell’s Zebras that can be sighted almost in every corner of the park. In the evening head back to the lodge for dinner and spend a night.

Day 2: To Bwindi impenetrable national park

Have breakfast at 7:30 am and begin your journey further southwest wards to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, passing via Mbarara town, which is endowed with beautiful landscapes, Ntungamo with its rolling hills and plain farmlands. It is such a great journey with all the incredible sights. Another stop over can be made at Satellite Resort for a short tour in the Great Lakes Museum. Have lunch here and continue to Bwindi. Having reached at the park check in at the lodge of your choice and just relax there the whole evening as you get ready for the next day of exclusive gorilla experience.

Day 3: Mountain Gorilla trekking & Community walk – Bwindi National Park

This day is one of the highlights of your 8 Days Explore Uganda Safari. Get your breakfast at 6:30 am and transfer to the park headquarters with packed lunch / snacks, get a briefing by the professional park rangers. By 8:00 am, the park rangers and trackers will accompany you as you enter the mist forest to trek mountain gorillas. You might need a walking stick if you are not physically fit enough and also consider using potters to help carry your luggage just in case you have and you pay them a small amount of money for labor.

Trekking may take between 2 and 8 hours, but the one-on-one interaction with a habituated family of gorilla is only restricted to one hour, as you watch them jump between branches, juveniles playing with mothers and silverbacks guarding the family. After trekking, return to the lodge to unwind and later in the evening take a walk in various communities such as the Batwa community where you will interact with them and learn a lot from them before you retire at the lodge.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth via the Ishasha sector

Get your breakfast and after transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park passing through the Ishasha sector which is home to tree climbing lions. The park has a number of wildlife species such as elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks, lions, and many others.

Upon arrival in the park, have lunch at the lodge and go for an optional afternoon game drive where you will be able to see some of the Savannah animals as well as interacting with resident communities. Alternatively, you can choose to just stay at the lodge, admiring the scenery from the comfort of your balcony.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth national park game drive & Kazinga Channel launch cruise

Have breakfast early in the morning after which you will immediately start off the game drive. By 7:00am you will be able to see the morning risers like the lions, solitary buffaloes, kobs, elephants etc. It is a great experience and exciting time as you can easily see these animals more closely.

The game drive lasts for 2-3 hours and later head back to the lodge for lunch and get ready for the afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga channel. This channel is home to various species like birds – malachite kingfishers, pink backed pelicans, and animals like crocodiles, elephants, hippos and many more. Cruising along the legendary Kazinga is one of the most eye-catching activities in the park. Afterwards go back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Sunrise game drive, visit the communities & Departure to Kibale

Have breakfast, have a morning game drive, and visit the resident communities at Kasoga landing site along the shores of Lake George where you will be introduced to amazing and beautiful lifestyle of the locals. Return to the lodge or have a picnic for lunch and embark on your journey to Kibale Forest National Park, which is home to Chimpanzees; it is approximately a 2 to 3 hours’ drive. Arrive at sunset, have dinner, and spend an overnight at a lodge overlooking the crater area.

Day 7: Chimpanzee trekking & Bigodi wetland walk

Start this amazing day with delicious breakfast and leave the lodge to the park headquarters. Attend a pre-trek briefing about Uganda chimpanzee trekking rules and etiquette. After briefing, embark on trekking through the forest at around 8:00am guided by an armed park ranger. It is so amazing having time with the chimpanzees in their natural habitats. You will also see other primates like grey checked Mangabeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, bush babies, etc. and a number of numerous species of birds.

Chimpanzee trekking lasts for about 2 hours, after which you’ll return and have lunch at the lodge and go for a walk in Bigodi wetland in the afternoon. Mix and mingle with local people here and spot a variety of different birds and animals like the Great Blue Turaco and more primates like bush pigs, otters, baboons among others.

Day 8: Return to Kampala

After a hefty breakfast on this day of your 8 Days Explore Uganda Safari, leave the park and drive to Kampala via Mubende town, where you will be in line to see beautiful scenic views found in this area. You will enjoy lunch in the town of Mubende and thereafter continue to Kampala.

Your driver guide will either leave you at your accommodation facility in Kampala or take you to the Airport in Entebbe just in case you are having your flight back home.
